Zig Ziglar
As a motivational teacher and trainer, Zig Ziglar is rated by his peers -- as well as by
audiences everywhere -- as one of the best and most versatile ever. He travels the world
over delivering his messages of humor, hope and enthusiasm to groups of all kinds and
sizes.
He has appeared on the platform with such outstanding Americans as
Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and George Bush, Gen. Norman
Schwarzkopf, Gen. Colin Powell, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, Paul Harvey, Dr. Robert
Schuller, and many U.S. congressmen and governors.
Ziglar has written 10 books, including "See You at the Top"
-- his perennial personal growth best seller, with nearly 1.4 million copies in print.
"Confessions of a Happy Christian," "Steps to the Top" and "Dear
Family" are several of his individual and family-oriented books, and some of his
recent best sellers are "Secrets of Closing the Sale," "Raising Positive
Kids in a Negative World," "Ziglar on Selling" and "Over the
Top."
Besides the books he's written, Ziglar's practical tri-dimensional
philosophy has been incorporated into an extensive array of audio, video and printed
training tools in addition to seminars and workshops. These are being used by companies of
all sizes as well as individuals, prisons and churches.
He has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The
Dallas Morning News, Fortune, Esquire, Success and Time. His television appearances
include the "Today Show," "Hour of Power," "20/20," and
"The Phil Donohue Show."
Ziglar has been recognized three times in the Congressional Record of
the United States for his work with youth in the drug war and for his dedication to
America and the free enterprise system. He frequently speaks at youth conventions, church
leadership assemblies and educational gatherings.
Born Hilary Hinton Ziglar in 1926 in Coffee County, Ala., Ziglar was
dubbed "Zig" in school. The nickname stuck. One of 12 children, Ziglar graduated
from high school in Yazoo City, Miss. He attended Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., and
the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
Prior to his career in the speaking and training field, Zig Ziglar was
a sales champion. After years as a cookware salesman in Mississippi, in 1955, Ziglar began
his teaching career as an instructor at the Dale Carnegie Institute in New York City. He
became a full-time public speaker in 1970 and was soon one of the most sought-after
speakers in the world.
He is now the chairman of the board of the Zig Ziglar Corporation and
instructs his "Born To Win" seminar. He and his wife, Jean, live in Dallas. He
is an avid jogger and enthusiastic golfer. |
